Abstract

A design for Video-Service-Engine(VSE) with Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) is proposed in this paper. It is implemented to an ADSL-based Near Video-On-Demand(NVOD) system as the video stream pump to provide interactive service. In this paper, the description of VSE follows the sequence of system overview, hardware architecture and operation flow control in order to give a comprehensive understanding about it. In addition, a video service trial which uses VSE to pump 504 channels of program at the DS1 rate is also introduced. From the quality of service(QoS) test, VSE successfully provides interactive service to the customer side with the distance 15,000 feet from the central office. Hence, a reliable video delivery system with good quality is proved.
