Compact Penta-band CPW-fed Slot Antenna

Abstract

A capacitively coupled CPW-fed penta-band slot dipole antenna is investigated in this paper. In comparison to the inductively coupled CPW-fed antenna, the proposed antenna shows about a half size reduction. The inserted slots achieve multiple operation bands with good frequency design freedom. The penta-band antenna operates at 1.7 GHz (f 1), 2.5 GHz (f 2), 2.7 GHz (f 3), 3.1 GHz (f 4) and 3.7 GHz (f 5). The antenna peak gain is from 4 dBi to 5 dBi and nearly omnidirectional radiation H-plane patterns are achieved. The antenna size is 70 mm (L g) × 40 mm (W g) × 0.508 mm (h). The operation frequencies are for PCS, WLAN, WiMAX and LTE.
