Abstract

In this work a spatial error concealment based upon a combined linear/directional interpolation is presented. In the proposed method a simple gradient algorithm is used to determine whether an edge is presented in a lost block or not, and the combined interpolation using the surrounding pixels of the lost block is then employed to restore the lost data. Experimental results reveal that a significant improvement over other interpolation methods can be achieved especially in the area of significant edges and texture.
