CHNHYD: a channel hydrodynamic model for simulating flows and water surface elevations in a stream/river network.

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Describes development of a channel hydrodynamic model for simulating the behaviour of flows and water surface in a river network (joined/branched rivers and streams, tidal or non-tidal rivers). Uses an integrated compartment numerical method (ICM). Describes discretization transformation and interpolation procedures involved. Most possible boundary conditions are considered. Implementation of junctions prescribed flow, prescribed water surface elevation and rating curve boundaries is relatively easy. Discusses application to two case studies, a single river and a network of five river channels in a network. Computation of chemical transport appears possible. (from author's abstract)
