Chaotic dynamics of an impact printer model

Abstract

This paper considers the chaotic dynamics of a simple print hammer model in the form of a piecewise-linear oscillator. The chaotic motions are characterized by Lyapunov exponents and by demonstrating the existence of a strange attracting set for the dynamics.
