Bragg degeneracy of diffraction in photorefractive transmission volume holograms

Abstract

Here we report our study on Bragg degeneracy in a transmission volume hologram. The Bragg degeneracy generates large crosstalk in an optical storage but nearly one-dimensional shift-invariance in optical correlator. We simulate 2-D distributions of the diffraction lights when the reading beam carries a plane wave or an image. The simulation results offer a clear picture of Bragg diffraction for optical storage and optical correlation in a bulk photorefractive crystal.
