Authenticity of Social Media Influencers: A Literature Review and Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract

The true, real, and legitimate things are considered authenticity, which is an important cue for audiences to develop their attitudes. People trust message sources with authenticity. Social media influencers are named influencers because they can persuade audiences. Authenticity is an important feature of social media influencers that links to their persuasion power. As a result, authenticity is an important dimension in evaluating social media influencers. The study identifies the recent research trend of the authenticity of social media influencers by searching the SSCI/SCI database. By analyzing the published 210f research articles, the study discusses the research trend and reveals the highly cited research article on the authenticity of social media influencers. The results provide essential insights into the booming research topics of authenticity of social media influencers.
