Anharmonic decay of longitudinal coherent acoustic phonons in GaN: Confirmation of herring's theory in the sub-THz regime

Abstract

We have successfully determined the anharmonic decay time of coherent longitudinal-acoustic-phonons in GaN. The temperature dependent anharmonic decay behavior is found to agree well with the Herring's theory even up to the sub-THz frequency regime.
