Abstract

Magnetically coupled all-pass network (MCAPN) with positive k can be used for phase shifter design. In this work, the MCAPN with positive coupling coefficient is adopted to design an analog phase shifter. The phase shifter is realized using a GaAs-based integrated passive device (IPD) process in conjunction with surface-mount discrete GaAs hyperabrupt varactor diodes. Measurement results show that, with the bias voltage swept from 2 to 18 V, the insertion loss is less than 4.3 dB and the maximum phase shift is 185.5 degree at 7.3 GHz.
