Abstract
The DLP optical projection technique is a major image projection technology. The traditional DLP optical engine uses UHP and a light pipe as its major components. This study proposed a new type of optical engine applicable to DLP by replacing UHP with LED to reduce energy consumption, and replacing the light pipe with a CPC to reduce the volume of the optical engine. An optical engine is simulated using the op- tical simulation software Tracepro. The results are consistent with the performance of a traditional DLP optical engine. It is proven that the smaller optical engine designed by this study has greater energy savings, and can replace the traditional optical engine.
