Abstract

This paper proposes a DSP embedded intelligent energy saving system to control the lights and air conditioners automatically based on the people number in a room. If there are a lot of people in the room, most of lights can be turned on and air condition can be stronger; but if there are few people in the room, some lights can be turned off and air condition can be weaker. In this paper, there are two tasks to be dealt with, one is to count the people number in the room and the other is to control the switches of lights and air conditioners automatically. The system contains two terminals; one is the detection terminal which uses a camera to capture images and goes through an image process to count the people number in the room. Then the second terminal controls switches of lights and air conditioners using embedded circuits based on the people number data. The whole system is implemented and can be applied to any other space for energy saving.
