Abstract
A broadband GaAs bidirectional distributed amplifier (BDA) designed using Gm-bandwidth ( Gm-BW) extension technique is presented in this letter. A Gm-BW extension configuration is investigated, and utilized in the gain stage of the BDA for enhancing gain and bandwidth performance. The isolation between forward path and reverse path is improved by using adaptive load network. The BDA exhibits small-signal gains of higher than 14.4 dB with a 3 dB bandwidth from 1.6 to 23.6 GHz. The measured output 1 dB gain compression point (OP1 dB) and output third-order intercept point (OIP3) over 3 dB bandwidth are higher than -7 and 1 dBm, respectively.
