Abstract

This paper presents a wideband low noise amplifier (LNA) using transformer feedback topology in 0.18 Μm CMOS. The first stage is a casocde topology with two-transformer feedback for wideband input and noise matching. The second stage is a resistive feedback common source amplifier. The proposed LNA presents a maximal power gain of 14.5 dB over a 3-dB bandwidth of 4.9 to 11.3 GHz. The measured minimum noise figure (NF) is 3.18 dB with a power consumption of 6.6 mW at VDD1 = 1.2 V and VDD2 = 0.7 V. The chip area occupies 0.83 × 0.95 mm2.
