Abstract
Three-dimensional electric field visualization utilizing electric-field-induced-second-harmonic-generation (EFISHG) in liquid crystals was presented. The visualization was achieved with a second harmonic generation confocal microscope with high spatial resolution on the order of or less than 1 μm. No SHG was observed before the static electric field was applied, which showed the background free characteristic of the method.
