National Central University and WIN Semiconductors propose this 3-year proposal to establish a WIN-NCU Joint Research Center to establish a long-term and stable regional cooperation relationship in Taoyuan. The content includes technology research and development (divided into five sub-projects), talent education, and market planning. WIN Semiconductors provides 10 million in funding to Central University annually to conduct research on GaN components in a three-year plan. In addition to in-depth discussions with the WIN Semiconductor team (including the general manager, etc.) on the research and development content in the early stage, the technology research and development is also planned according to the required research field of the National Science and Technology Council. WIN Semiconductor's technology development covers three significant directions, MMIC Application Portfolio, MMIC Advanced Technology, and Optoelectronic Technology Development. These three directions align with space satellites' needs, and this proposal's five sub-projects align with these three categories. The final goals of this three-year proposal will demonstrate as follows, The first sub-project develops the quaternary AlInGaN barrier layer to alleviate the problem of AlInN phase separation and develop high-frequency AlInGaN/GaN HEMTs. The second sub-project demonstrates the process of the transistor after transferring a single layer of graphene to improve the contact resistance and surface protection. The third sub-project is to develop a 1550 nm DFB laser and system for 4D FMCW LIDAR. The fourth sub-project will complete the front-end module (FEM), active phased array (APA), reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) millimeter-wave circuit modules, and subsystems. The fifth sub-project will verify the superior characteristics of nitride semiconductors in sensing and apply them to cancer screening.
