Project Details
Description
The project will focus on the simulation of the effect of vibratory stress relief by thefinite element method. Furthermore, the numerical results will be validated by comparisonwith the experimental data. This research is divided into two portions. The first portion is conducting experiments.Residual stress of the test sample is developed through static bending deformation orwelding process. Then, apply vibratory stress relief to the sample and record the strain onthe surface of the sample. The variation of the residual stress can be calculated from thestrain. The second portion of this project is the simulation by the finite element method. Aprocedure similar to the experiment is performed except numerically. The numerical resultsand experimental results are thus compared to obtaining a reversed numerical model. Finally, we perform a parameter study on vibratory stress relief, which can provide thesuggestions of choosing values and conditions of vibration parameters.
