The project will focus on the simulation of the effect of vibratory stress relief by thefinite element method. Furthermore, the numerical results will be validated by comparisonwith the experimental data.This research is divided into two portions. The first portion is conducting experiments.Residual stress of the test sample is developed through static bending deformation. Then,apply vibratory stress relief to the sample and record the strain on the surface of the sample.The variation of the residual stress can be calculated from the strain. The second portion ofthis project is the simulation by the finite element method. A procedure similar to theexperiment is performed except numerically. The numerical results and experimentalresults are thus compared to obtaining a reversed numerical model. Finally a parameterstudy on vibratory stress relief are doing, which can provide the suggestions of choosingvalues and condition of vibration parameters.
