Using Icesat-2 Early Adopter Data for Hydrological Monitoring in Taiwan

The proposal aims to validate the preliminary result of ATLAS instrument, a newly developed laseraltimeter that will be mounted onboard ICESat-2 and scheduled for launch in late 2017. Theinstrument has been tested airborne with various data products. However, a simulation is needed forthe altitude shift to ensure the workability and accuracy of this instrument once spaceborne. We willinvestigate the possibility of using ICESat-2 data to monitor land subsidence in southwest Taiwan.In the mean time, with current observation system we will integrate simulated ICESat-2 data toexamine the potential usage in monitoring groundwater level change.
