Thermplasotic Microfluidics Fabrcation, Bonding and Packaging Process Developemnt

Project Details

Description

Aging population is not only a critical issue in Taiwan, but also a world-wide problem. Developing anremote home heath caring and diagnostic system is one of the important aspect to solve the aging populationissue. Microfluidics device provides rapid, low sample assumption, high sensitivity, automation, and highintegration level advantages which is ideal to use as point-of-care testing (POCT) device in the remote healthcaring and diagnostic system. Polymer microfluidic devices have low-cost advantage which is ideal to use asdisposable device in the POCT applications. Polymer microfluidics is current in the stage of transferring theresearch prototype to commercialization products. However, most polymer microfluidic fabrication process isgood for medium-low volume production rate which may create obstacles while transferring to high volumecommercialized products. In this research, we focus on developing the polymer microfluidics fabricationtechnology, we not only focus on the process performance but also focus on fabrication throughputconsiderations. Two major polymer microfluidic device fabrication procedure: Front-end microchannelfabrication and Back-end microfluidic packaging will be developed in this research project.
