The Practice of Writing through "Knowing the Reader": Freshman year "Chinese Writing" course as the core

This research project is based on the compulsory "Chinese Writing" course in the first year of the university, because non-Chinese students have the need to write in their freshman year in professional subjects. In addition, teachers of professional subjects expect college students to have basic writing skills, including fluency, clarity of argument, and structural integrity, and to be able to write knowledgeable writing that incorporates professional knowledge. After studying various writing guides available in the market today, I tried to plan a systematic writing course by referring to Harvard University's "O.R.E.O MAP" tool to lead students to write logical and clearly structured essays, and by using my personal writing and teaching experience to appropriately incorporate western "finding" writing techniques. I will lead students to write project proposals, book reviews, autobiographies, resumes, and interviews. Through peer reviews and feedback from teachers, we will understand that "knowing the reader" is the first lesson of writing, and we will not only practice various types of writing, but also try to strengthen students' motivation to read through writing practice, effectively enhance students' independent learning motivation, and stimulate their ability to think later, so that they can reflect on today's copywriting and online platform story writing strategies.
