The 6th Asian Crystallization Technology Symposium

Project Details

Description

Solution crystallization is one of the most important bottom-up separation and shaping processes, forming a connection between the solution chemistry (chemical engineering) and the solid phase (materials science). It is ubiquitous in waste treatment, solar power, pharmaceutical, geochemical, food, and specialty chemical industries. A good understanding in crystallization is required to deliver a high-quality and stable product reproducibly in a large scale. Understanding solution crystallization is vital in preventing various detrimental crystallization phenomena for industrial processes such as pipe scaling, hygroscopic materials, and impurities inclusion in the final product. Solution crystallization can also be found in ice formation, geological crystallization, chiral separation, and biomineralization of teeth, bones, gout, and kidney stone. Due to the inherent practicality of crystallization, there is a need for crystallization experts from various chemical and materials engineering backgrounds to discuss recent advances and brainstorm with each other. Especially in Asia, where all kinds of industries have been blossomed in recent decades due to the economic boom, the need of crystallization is paramount. To accommodate the need for organizing Asian students, academics, scientists, and industry experts working in crystallization to meet with each other, ACTS symposium had been held biennially across the continents such as Japan, Korea, China P.R.C., Singapore, and Thailand. Furthermore, ACTS symposia have also consistently attracted scholars researching in crystallization outside Asia, such as Germany, United Kingdom, France, the Netherlandsand United States.
