Project Details
Description
In the 111th academic year, Taiwanese Sign Language became a designated course, aiming to address the difficulty in hiring teachers due to a shortage of qualified personnel. The Taiwan Sign Language Distance Live Learning Project emerged in the 111th academic year, with the purpose of utilizing remote teaching methods to tackle potential challenges faced by Taiwanese Sign Language. Despite progress in implementing Taiwanese Sign Language courses over the past two years, several issues persist, including teacher training challenges, uneven course implementation, equipment and technical hurdles, lack of established course evaluation and standards, and insufficient public promotion and awareness.Based on the aforementioned project background and past implementation status, this phase of the project aims to provide Taiwanese Sign Language instruction during the designated period for indigenous language courses from the second semester of the 112th academic year to the first semester of the 114th academic year. In cases where schools across Taiwan are unable to hire physical instructors, remote live teaching methods will be utilized to assist students in learning Taiwanese Sign Language. Additionally, efforts will be expanded to include relevant teacher training, surveys, expert meetings, briefing sessions, exchange meetings, school visits, teacher selection, and retraining to ensure the smooth implementation of sign language distance teaching during the designated indigenous language periods.
