Recent developments of solar energy in many countries are starting to focus on solar energymonitoring, which can greatly facilitate the generation efficiency assessment, facility maintenance,and risk management of solar photovoltaic power. Accordingly, our government has been workinghard to implement green energy policies in recent years. The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Bureauof Energy is running a project named "million Rooftop PVs" to propose an accomplishment of solarphotovoltaic power generation in 2030 in Taiwan amounted to 6200 MW. Therefore, in theforeseeable future, the community-based or small-scale solar power plants will be more popular.However, normally these small plants are running lower capital; solar radiation monitoringequipment with price more than ten thousands Taiwanese dollar can be a burden, and turns out itcould hold back the development of solar energy usage and policy. Therefore, this study presentstwo main purposes: (1) the design and development of silicon-based solar radiometer, in favor ofmarket-driven. (2) the establishment of ISO-standard calibration procedures for solar radiometer,which later on can be served as national standards. Our project work also covers the content ofinternational cooperation and industry cooperation. It will help strengthen the integration theknowledge of technology and marketing between research institutes, solar companies and solarpower plants. Finally, we are expecting the performance of the project will greatly beneficial on thedevelopments of solar energy industry in Taiwan.
