Research of Learning Performance of CDIO-Based Teaching Strategy with PBL Power Measurement and Instrumentation Practice

With the raise of energy cost, every country proposes many strategies to search for alternative energy. In addition, these countries make much effort to improve energy consumption in the present electrical devices. From above, it is known that integrating power generation, transmission, and distribution to achieve efficient monitoring and control is an important task right now. Due to the development of energy-saving technology and the adoption of power electronics, increasing usage of nonlinear loads would lead to power quality problems. Therefore, measurement and identification of these power quality disturbances become fundamental factors to help constitute the standards. Because those power quality analysis methods are quite different and have different limitations for different power signals, inexperienced engineers may not be able to effectively and correctly apply these techniques. Following the aforementioned concepts, a useful system based on virtual measurement and instrumentation platform by combining several commonly used power quality analysis methods is designed in this project and integrating CDIO-based teaching strategy with flipped classroom, reciprocal teaching, Problem-Based Learning (PBL), and field practice to advance the research and implementation abilities for students in the grid power measurement and management.
