The Ministry of Science and Technology divides Natural Sciences into four major areas:Mathematics/Statistics, Physics, Chemistry and Earth Science. The mission andresponsibilities of the panel coordinator in Statistical Science include:• Assist in planning the development of statistical science, with areas in mathematicalstatistics and probability, statistical methodology, biostatistics, industrial statistics andother applied statistics;• Promote panel related activities of the predetermined plans;• Carry out curriculum planning in key research areas;• Convene review committee and assist in reviewing various proposals and applications,including research project proposals, research awards, applications to attendinternational academic conferences, proposals to invite overseas scholars to visit andgive short-term guidance lectures and /or on science and technology, and so on;• Follow and compare international trends of development in Statistical Science;• Promote connections with international societies of Statistical Sciences.
