Project Details

Description

The pixel detector has played a major role in the experiments of large hadron collider at CERN. It is used to reconstruct the location of proton-proton collisions and to detect the presence of heavy flavor jets that helps in both measurements of the properties of standard model particles and search for new particles. In the Phase 2 upgrade of CMS detector, the geometry and layout of pixel sensors, and bump bonding with readout electronics are still under development. In this proposal, we describe the research and development plan of pixel sensors from year 2015 to 2018. We will start from the design of pixel geometry and layout, and move on to the measurement of the characteristics of produced sensors, and test of radiation hardness. There is also a possibility to study the technique of bump bonding. The development will contribute to the CMS Phase 2 upgrade and detectors of future collider experiments.
