Pilot Study of Disaster Information Integration between Central Government and Local Government - Hsin-Chu County

Disaster impact on humans and is always an important issue. Some strategies can minimize the impactof disasters before or under the impact such as (1) the use of information of disaster prevention andprotection, (2) the development, implement and application to the technology of disaster preventionand protection, (3) the early analysis on the change of disaster and related risk, (4) the promotion onthe resolution of GIS (Geographic Information System) data, (5) the sharing of the information disasterprevention and protection between Central and Local government.To achieve the above-mention strategies, this project proposes four major works: (1) Build thefundamental database of local disasters; (2) Apply and provide the feedback of the information ofdisasters; (3) Study on the characteristics of local disasters; and (4) Analyze the capability of disasterprevention and mitigation of local industries. The team of this project establish long-term cooperativerelations with the government of Hsin-Chu County on the subjects of disaster prevention andmitigation. To minimize the impact of disasters in Hsin-Chu County, this project will be built based onthe above relations to further achieve the following objectives: (1) rise the resolution of the localdisaster data for the central government; (2) synchronize the information of disaster between centraland local government; (3) strengthen the gathering and the assessing of disaster intelligence; and (4)promote the capacity of response energy of the grassroots.This project will be also in cooperation with NCDR (National Science and Technology Center forDisaster Reduction) to enhance the energy of study and research, and the disaster intelligence networkof NCDR can provide the instant information for the local government and the local government canprovide the feedback to the network too.
