Multiple Applications of Gasification for Industrial Complex( I )

Project Details

Description

Coal is an important primary energy in the global world. The important of coal is surpassed onlythat of the oil in our country. For the past few years, coal is an inexpensive and price stabilityresource with relative to another fuels. However, the global energy conservation, carbon reductionand PM2.5 issues also are very serious problem. For aiming to reduce carbon dioxide emissions frompower plants as well as steel factories and petro-chemical, clean coal utilization is one of the mostpromising technology, among which the core entities are advanced gasification process. Thistechnology is useful not only for emission reduction and pollution improvement in coal-fired plantsbut also for increasing multicultural fuel flexibility such as the usage of biomass and waste materials. For this reason, this proposal“MAGIC” (Multiple Applications of Gasification for IndustrialComplex) for Clean Coal Technologies focuses on gasification in an Entrained-bed Gasifier,medium- to high-temperature dust filtration, removal of toxic substances technologies from thegasification syngas, producing electricity from gasification syngas and reusing and purification ofcarbon dioxide. This integrated proposal will be executed by NEPII team. This team also cooperates with YFYInc.. In addition, this project proposal involves international cooperation with professor Ting Wangand who is the director of Energy Conversion and Conservation Center (ECCC) in University ofNew Orleans and Fellow of Academia Sinica, respectively. In the future, according to the keytechnology and promoting the application of the system, we can help to establish a link betweendomestic and international industry. At the same time, establish the first MWt level commercialgasifier further, so clean coal gasification technology can be implemented in each gasification plant.
