Multimedia teaching strategy to overcome the language teaching difficulties encountered in the « Practical French » course

Project Details

The objective of this course is to improve the teaching of the course entitled "Practical French" at the French Department of the National Central University of Taiwan. We hope to strengthen the capacity to structure information and engage students from it, to prolong the effects of "self-learning" (by oral presentation), which is a very important part of this course. We wish to see that, after acquiring a thorough understanding of French culture, students can apply their knowledge in another project to diversify and concretize their skills. Therefore, this project wants to take advantage of modern multimedia scene, by asking students to teamwork and to make a short video in French subtitled in Chinese about any aspect of French culture. They will be supported and guided by professionals from the media industry to better grasp today’s standards and technics, while expressing their creativity. We will also be able to evaluate them better. Later, via existing means (the university high school) or to be set up (our graduate students who work as French teachers in high schools), we will be able to share produced videos, either to support a teaching method (designed by the students of the course "Teaching Materials and Methods of French" of our department), or to attract more attention (during exhibit or high school open house). We will thus generate more exchanges with the French teaching community in Taiwan, better develop interests in secondary languages and raise the visibility of our university at international level. As a result, we will not only be able to encourage our students to study French better, we will also be able to make them more confident and motivated.
