Mode Selection, Interference and Frequency Offset Compensation in D2d Communication

Project Details

Description

This project focuses on dealing with interference problems and synchronization mechanisms in D2Dcommunications. Heterogeneous networks can provide higher throughput only when the interference can bewell coordinated and the synchronization can be accomplished. Several possible issues that may occur infifth- generation wireless system are also taken into consideration in this project. The first issue is to dealwith the problem caused by rapid increase in the connected devices in 5G wireless communication network.According to international forums, the number of connected devices may rise up to 10 times of the currentone, and many interference problems will thus occur. Therefore, D2D communication is regarded as one ofmost important solutions to reduce deal with the interference. This project contains two research topics. The first is mode selection between D2D communication and cellular communication. We may conductprobability model analysis and then study several mode selection criteria. The other research topic is resourceallocation and interference suppression/control in the D2D communications. Furthermore, communicationswith multiple devices will introduce a problem of multiple frequency offsets. This research will begin fromthe practical requirement of applications to take care of technical issues. Interference control mechanismsand joint estimation of multiple frequency offsets will be thoroughly investigated. To enhance throughput ofthe network, user satisfaction will be studied in the application aspect. These two research topics mentionedabove will be mutually correlated and will be studied in a cooperative manner with rigorous derivations.
