Iterative Algorithms for Carrier Frequency Offset Estimation of Ofdm-Based Systems

Project Details

Description

Previously, we presented a blind scheme for estimating frequency and transition timein an iterative fashion: the iterative disassemble and assemble (IDNA) algorithm forfrequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) systems. The proposed scheme does not requireinitial random guesses as with common iterative algorithms. The proposed approach canconverge to the global maximum in order to achieve the solution. The proposed scheme offersa much lower computational complexity than that of the maximum likelihood greedy searchalgorithm. Recently, 3GPP has started to discuss Rel. 15 specifications for thefifth-generation (5G) systems. CP-OFDM is still the proposed multicarrier transmissionmethod for the 5G systems based on the 3GPP discussion. In this project, we are going toadapt the above algorithm for the CFO estimation of OFDM-based signals such as 4G, 5G, andFBMC signal models. The developed algorithm would be also considered for the applicationwith multiple input multiple output (MIMO) technologies. Besides, non-orthogonal multipleaccess (NOMA) has been paid attention in 5G systems. The CFO estimation under NOMA scenariocan also been considered as the co-channel interference is added in the received signal andthe varied derivations would occur under this scenario.
