Interplay between Electrical Conduction and Ferromagnetism in New Nano-Sized or Novel Material(1/3)

Project Details

Description

We propose to continue refining the fabrication processes for obtaining ultra-fine nanoparticles butin this proposal we focus on core-shell structures. In some cases, nanoparticle powder will be packedinto selective compacted form for device application test. The basic properties will be studied bymeasuring resistivity, magnetoresistivity, magnetic susceptibility, specific heat, x-ray diffraction andneutron scattering measurements. Special attention will be focus on the interplay between theelectricity and magnetism. Topics proposed to be studied include (1) direct interplay betweensuperconductivity and ferromagnetism in iron-based superconducting compounds, (2) interplay betweenferroelectricity and ferromagnetism in type-II multiferroics, (3) inverse magnetization induced throughFaraday’s induction in nano-sized magnet-metal core-shell nancomposites, and (4) nano-sized PrussianBlue Analogue core-shell structures for the cathode material of Na+ or Li+ secondary battery.
