Energetic Processes Study of Volatile Molecules in Solid Phase at Low Temperature Ii(2/3)

Project Details

Description

This is a continual proposal and will use ultra-high vacuum and low temperature surface techniques to simulate condensed volatile molecules (interstellar ice analogs) in astrophysical environments in space, and use spectroscopy and mass spectrometry to monitor the evolution of ices irradiated by electron, vacuum-ultraviolet, extreme ultraviolet and X-ray, respectively. Moreover, The refractory residue will be analyzed by using a high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The research topics of this proposal include (1) the formation mechanism of organic molecules in Pluto system, (2) the photodesorption yield and photodesorption mechanism of astrophysical ice analogs, (3) spontelectric field of polar ices, (4) the effect of X-ray induced secondary electron on the formation mechanism of products in ices. The results to be obtained from the proposed tasks will bring us understand more about the interstellar-physics and interstellar-chemistry.
