Development of the cognitive, physiological, brain states monitoring and early warning system of pilots under aviation training

Project Details

Description

The project of “Physiological monitoring and early warning technology for pilots in aviation traning equipment field”aims to develop an objective and effective estimation platform to measure the behaviors and physiological indeies of pilots for special environment training in aviation traing fields. It also can be used to assess the function of brain congnitive, physiological state and psychological quality. This project is developed by NCSIST with other development units and research units to carry out cross-field integrations. It is a three-year study combing many fields such as engineering, information science, medical engineering, psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and clinical science. Fighter pilots are often exposed to high G environment in flight. G tolerance is increased by cardiovascular responses of humans to avoid G-induced loss of consciousness. Pilots also face the challenges of the hypoxia due to altitude which could be neutralized by the cardiac functions. Some resrarches indicate that the function of cardiovascular system is related to the performance of training. This project will be organized to introduce stress index, ANS index, and the consciousness index from EEG with majors of development units and research units. At the same time, the evaluation device and flatform which can measure the airworthiness of pilots quickly is developed. The prediction model of the impact on G tolerance and chamber training is also used in the safety maintence in pilot training. It can establish the mechanisms that assess the pre-flight fitness with daily self-physiological conditions for pliots. Using various physiological parameters and indicators collected by pilots in the aviation training field, the mechanism for safety training and early warning has also been established. The correlation between pilots’ brain waves, consciousness, cognition, etc. has been discussed and some related devices is also developed in this project. The goal of the project is to develop a fitness rapid assessment platform in a simulated flight training environment. The signals and data of physicological, psychological and cognitive fuction are integrated to conduct a correlation analysis between the pilot’s simulation performance of the actual combat and physicological and psychological signals. Finally, the muti-faceted comprehensive airworthiness monitoring system for pilots will be developed in this project.
