Development of Hybrid Electrical Machining Technologies and Their Intelligent Integration for a Productivity 4.0-Based High-Precision Mold Manufacturing System( I )

Machining(EDM), Electrical Chemical Machining(ECM), Laser Machining Due to global competition, the companies in Taiwan have to improve the quality and manufacturing efficiency of their products. The idea of industry 4.0 factory, widely used in Germany connecting all machines and devices and forming a collaborative community, has been considered by government officers as a possible solution for Taiwan manufacturing industry. Accordingly, professors of universities as well as engineers of research institutes should also adjust their research focuses and try to solve the industrial problems. In order to improve the efficiency of Taiwan manufacturing companies, we propose to develop an industry 4.0 integrated manufacturing system for high precision molds, including electrical discharging (EDM), Electro chemical machining (ECM) and Laser manufacturing machines. The manufacturing data will be transferred among machines and analyzed to on-line adjust the machines. During the research period, the professors of National Central University and National Sun Yat-sen University will closely cooperate with engineers from Chmer Ltd. and Gentec Ltd. companies and Metal Industries Research & Development Center (MIRDC). The techniques developed in this project can be used by industrial companies to improve the product quality and lower the manufacturing cost.
