Schedule delays commonly appear in construction projects and result in schedule delay claims progressively. How to implement well-organized schedule management works during the course of project execution and suitable schedule delay analysis after project completion have received much attention not only from professional schedule managers but also from the contractor and the client. Past researches treat schedule management work and schedule delay analysis into two independent areas. There are many innovative methods for schedule management work and schedule delay analysis; however, many problems related to schedule management and delay analysis still exist. Based on a preliminary study, this study proposes to incorporate duration forecasting and schedule management approaches from EVM/EDM/ESM into schedule analysis methods. This study targets on developing a new method that could be used to predict schedule delays during the course of project execution and could be used to analyze the delay liability quickly and correctly after project completion. It is anticipated that the proposed method can improve the performance of schedule management and delay analysis.
