Christian Reformation and Modern European Philosophy: Conceptualization of Systemic Hermeneutics of “Glauben”(3/3)

Initially this Program essays a conceptualization of a micro-theory: systemic hermeneutics of religion, which shall correlate the main fields in philosophy of religion and the representatives in intellectual history. For a long time Western traditional philosophy of religion is based on two metaphysical paradigms, that of classical Greek philosophy, Plato and Aristotle, and that of the Christian theologized foretype, Augustines and Thomas and so on. But the modern and even contemporary Western philosophy - including Protestant, Catholic, Humanism and other non-Christian such as materialistic philosophy - is essentially resulting from the Christian Reformation, which its celebration for five centennial anniversary is upcoming in AD 2017. The religious dimension of philosophy - though Christianity still plays the main subject for reflection or object of critique, but the interest has also been extended to the humanistic and other universal religions in the world-, seems not yet in a comprehensive manner, that is, in double respects of the philosophical-historical and the systematic-theoretical inquiry.Therefore, on the one hand, the present program, concerning the relationship-dimension between philosophy and religion, seeks to enter into the key event of the religious dimension of modern philosophy: the inter-relation and -action between Reformation and Western philosophy shall be concretely researched on the paradigmatic ways of thinking and representative philosophers. This study will sort out the basic clue, and so the main concern and the core concepts for philosophizing religious dimension in the context of the history of continental philosophy. On the other hand, regarding the dimension of meta-theory, which corresponds to the above research, it attempts to obtain the basic approaches as well as the models for the fundamental theory, for which the religious dimension of philosophical research on the basic philosophy of religion could apprehend from the significant aspects of contemporary Western hermeneutic philosophizing, and to conceptualize the basic framework of a systemic hermeneutic of “Glauben”，that is the primordial theory of systemic hermeneutics of religion.Thence in the first stage (year) this program shall, under the philosophical dimension of metaphysics and ontology, explore the clue and the basic idea in the genesis and development of German mysticism, especially from Meister Eckhart in medieval philosophical thought, which has a direct impact on the Reformation in Germanic culture, to Catholic Nicolaus Cusanus and Protestant Reformer Martin Luther. Not only its different faces in the Reformation and the Catholic would be presented, but also the common systemic world-view shall be revealed: the fundamental nexus of God - human being -universe, and then the contextuality of the hermeneutics of “Glauben” as fore-structure of understanding would be investigated. In the second stage (year), this study would further research, under the dimension of epistemology and subj ectivity-theory, the basic line and framework of religious dimension from Catholic philosopher Descartes and Leibniz, through the Protestant Kant, to Hegel as the culmination of German idealism, particularly the relationship between limited and absolute subjectivity, and thus discovering the “Sachlichkeit” of hermeneutics of “Glauben” and understanding-process as hermeneutic arc. In the third stage (year) this research would investigate, under the dimension of phenomenology and hermeneutics, the genealogy and network from Martin Heidegger, who went across Catholic and Protestant traditions, as initiator of hermeneutic turn and philosophizing, through Gadamer as that of German hermeneutics to maestro of French Hermeneutic, Ricoeur, to indicate the trail from “In-der-Welt-Sein” to language itself as trace for systemic-hermeneutic theologizing and philosophizing, and finally the linguisticality of hermeneutics of “Glauben”, for example the model
