Description
With the advance of Information technology and Social media, smartphones play an important role of helping people to easily surf online, such us online shopping, online socializing and so on. Even position ourselves with App features such as Check-in with Facebook, positioning with Geotags with Instagram. However, the other edge of the sword is the security and privacy exposure problems brought along with these developments. As GDPR, the new European Union privacy protection directives took effect, and was actually put into action, privacy issues become an important focus of discussions. The recent frequent events of privacy information breaches, led users to realize that while enjoying the convenience, we are leaving numerous footprints in the cyber-world, that can be illegally collected and exploited. Hence, awareness in privacy issues escalates.This study attempts to look into the causes that affect the usage of these positioning features that potentially expose our whereabouts.
