A Study on Generating Grinding Texture of Cylindrical Gear Tooth Surface Topological of Cylindrical Gears for Vi Bration and Noise Reduction(3/3)

Project Details

Description

In recent years, the two-way coupling analysis of Multi-body Dynamics (MBD) and Discrete Element Method (DEM) has been applied to suppress the transmission vibration and noise of gears. However, less research on how to create the gear grinding texture to reduce the transmission vibration and noise so far. In the first year of this project, the worm wheel surface will be scanned by optical instruments and its microscopic surface topography will be established by programming. The gear grinding motion on a generating gear grinding machine will be established to obtain the simulated grinding texture on the work gear tooth surface. The practical gear grinding is planned to conduct for verifying the validity of the theoretical model. In the second year, several micro-granules will be distributed on the gear surface and the coupled DEM-MBD simulation will be applied to analyze the influence of the gear grinding texture on the transmission vibration. In the third year, the machining setting parameters of a 6-axis CNC gear generating grinding machine will be studied for grinding the desired gear grinding texture. The practical gear machining tests using the solved machining settings will also be performed on a gear grinding machine, as well as the transmission vibration and noise of finished gear pairs will be measured by the tri-axial accelerometer and noise-meter. The measured data can be analyzed through the software, ArtemiS SUITE, to evaluate improvement on gear transmission noise. The aforesaid developed technologies are expected to enhance the added value of gear grinding machines and improve the quality of gear transmission in domestic.
