A Collaborative Problem Solving Approach to Support Science Learning: the Development and Evaluation of Platform and Science Teacher Professional Developing on Collaborative Scientific Problem Solving Performance and TPACK(1/3)

Project Details

Description

Recently, collaborative problem solving (CPS) has been increasingly highlighted. However, not many studies have address collaborative scientific problem solving (CSPS).This research project aims address this important issue. In the first stage (the first year), thisstudy will develop a collaborative simulation-based Collective Scientific Problem SolvingLearning System (CSPSLS). Also, preliminary system evaluations on CSPSLS will beconducted. Besides, high school science teachers’ conception and self-efficacy toward CSPSinstruction will be explored qualitatively. In the second stage, the CSPSLS will be improved. Also, two CSPS activities will be developed. Then, with these CSPS activities, scienceteachers’ CSPS process (social interaction and the use of CPS straggles) and performanceacross various CPS settings will be investigated and compared. In the final stage, theCollaborative Learning Activity Design System (CLADS) will be developed to scaffoldscience teachers’ collaborative CSPS learning activity design. Then, a workshop ondeveloping teachers’ technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) regardingcollaborative simulation-based CSPS instruction will be designed and implemented toexamine the effects of this workshop on teachers’ TPACK)regarding collaborativesimulation-based CSPS instruction.
