2020 Project to Promote Research Development for the Sustainable Development Division

Description

With references of research trends and themes of sustainable development in the world along with domestic academic development and society needs, the division of sustainable development is in charge of promoting sustainable development research and leveraging the implementation of research outcomes. The division plans proposal calls for innovative and objectives-oriented research proposals capable of taking into considerations of environmental protection, societal justice, and economic development at the same time. This project is the promotion of research and development for the Sustainable Development Division of for fiscal year 2020 aiming to: (1) collecting and analyzing the research trends and topics of sustainable development research in the world; (2) evaluating project outcomes and achievements, identifying research highlights, and delivering the medium-term planning guidance for the next phase research directions to be implemented by the division; (3) reviewing and evaluating proposals submitted to the division for fiscal year 2020; (4) evaluating how we can better promote transdisciplinary research based on projects awarded in 2020; (5) hosting kick-off meeting for awarded projects; (6) promoting data management plan for awarded projects; (7) planning the research topics to call for proposals for fiscal year 2021; (8) supporting international collaboration with Belmont Forum members and other global partners; (9) assisting the Ministry of Science and Technology in promoting sustainability related affairs. The expected outcomes include: (1) promoting research engagements and interactions among scholars from different disciplinary to leveraging highlights leveraging and capacity buildings in sustainable development research; (2) enhancing communication, idea exchange, and mutual understanding among scholars, administers, governmental agencies, and other stakeholders to turning research outcomes to be more shareable and transferable; (3) reviewing trends and directions of sustainable development research in the world to increasing participation and contribution of Taiwan scholars in global research communities on sustainable development.
