Impact generally refers to social, environmental, or economic changes to people and communities caused by activities, programs, or policies. Due to the rise of issues like sustainable development and ESG, impact measurement and management has been an emerging research field and discipline. Top universities such as Saïd Business School of Oxford University, Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and UCLA's Anderson School of Management have successively established impact management, measurement, and investment-related research centers or programs in the past two years. It is also observable that the number of related academic works, including case studies, theoretical inspections, and comparative analyses, increases. In comparison, discussions on related issues in Taiwan's academic circles primarily focus on relevant concepts or analytical structure, suggesting the urgency and necessity of forming a research center dedicated to advancing research on impact measurement and management. Based on the foundation the National Central University paved for years, the Asian Institute for Impact Measurement and Management (AIIMM) formally commenced operation in January 2019. Aiming to be a hub for top research on impact measurement and management in Asia, AIIMM absorbs high-quality research energy from the National Central University to improve research connotation and expand the scope of application to assist Taiwan's governmental agencies and enterprises in addressing challenges such as industrial upgrading and sustainable development.The AIIMM has many advantages, including a professional lineup and high-quality research groups. The Director is the only professor in Asia with qualifications as a Level 3 Advanced Practitioner of Social Value and SROI, a UNDP SDG Impact Standards certified trainer, and an ISO 37005 (Governance of organizations: Selecting, Creating and Using Indicators) Working Group member. Under the Director's leadership, two employees of the AIIMM also passed the exam to obtain Associate Practitioner status this year. Overall, AIIMM has achieved more than expected results in the past two years (110-111). Regarding talent cultivation and recruitment, AIIMM members supervised 176 master's and doctoral students, of which 13 were international students. In addition, AIIMM has finished the Impact Measurement and Management Course Program arrangement for undergraduate students and will continue to promote and improve the teaching content.Regarding research outputs, AIIMM members maintain high-quality paper output. In the past five years (2017-2021), AIIMM members wrote 113 academic papers in English, of which 97 were published in international journals, and 73 were published in the top 25% of journals (using Scopus CiteScore metrics). The Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) value for publications in Social Science field reaches 3.60, meaning AIIMM's members' papers received more citations than the world average. In terms of international cooperation and exchanges, AIIMM members co-authored 29 papers with foreign scholars and played leading roles in several transnational research projects. In addition, the Asian Impact Management Review, released in December 2022, will act as a channel bridging AIIMM with institutions overseas. Finally, regarding social and research contributions, AIIMM has made contributions through several channels. In the past two years, it participated in 113 capacity-building activities and implemented 12 industry-university cooperation projects, with a derivative income amounting to NTD 18.42 million dollars.
