Differential spatial modulation (DSM) transmits additional data bits without increasing power consumption and radiofrequency circuits and without pilot overhead. Space-time block coded DSM (STBC-DSM) is a generalized DSM scheme. It combines DSM with STBC to enhance diversity. In our earlier work, we propose a bandwidth-efficient STBC-DSM (BE-STBCDSM) scheme, which interleaves the transmitted symbols.However, the transmit diversity order of existing STBC-DSM schemes is only two. Replacing the 2x2 STBC with a fulldiversity 4x4 STBC in STBC-DSM allows one to easily obtain an STBC-DSM scheme with four transmit diversity orders.Nevertheless, the interleaving patterns in the original BESTBC-DSM cannot be utilized in such high-diversity BE-STBCDSM. In this report, we propose new interleaving patterns for BE-STBC-DSM whose transmit diversity order is four. Two types of interleaving are proposed: intra-block interleaving, whose patterns are designed, and inter-block interleaving, whose patterns are searched. Compared with other DSM schemes with the same diversity order, BE-STBCDSM using the proposed interleaving patterns are more spectrally efficient and offer better error performance at high signal-to-noise ratios.
