金融業區塊鏈技術的影響力衡量與管理

Project Details

Description

Although many blockchain-based applications have been developed on payments, digital identity, primary securities issuance, securities clearing and settlement, derivatives clearing and processing, post-trade reporting, trade finance, and crypto-finance in the financial sector, little research has been done to explore blockchain technology’s impact measurement and management (IMM). IMM is an emerging discipline for businesses that wish to demonstrate and communicate their contribution to stakeholders in a credible and transparent manner. Hence, this 2-year research project aim to bridge the research gap by exploring how firms and institutions in the financial sector measure and manage the impacts of their blockchain projects. Leading global consensus IMM tools including Social Return on Investment (SROI), Impact Reporting and Investment Standards+ (IRIS+), and Impact Management Project (IMP) will be adopted in this research. During the first year, a SROI framework for the blockchain projects will be developed and suitable IRIS+ indicators will be identified for all outcomes caused by blockchain projects. A SROI value map integrated with IRIS+ will be also developed for impact measurement of blockchain projects. During the second year of the research project, our research team will transfer the SROI and IRIS+ results into the IMP framework, which includes 5 impact dimensions, 15 data categories, 4 risk types, and 3 impact classifications. An IMM template integrated with SROI, IRIS+, and IMP for blockchain projects in the financial sector will be developed. A case study will be conducted also to demonstrate how to apply the first-year’s integrated SROI and IRIS+ value map and the second-year’s IMP based IMM template for companies in the financial sector to maximize the impacts of blockchain projects while mitigating the potential risks. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first research to investigate how to apply SROI approach to measure the impacts of blockchain projects. It is also the first research to integrate the IRIS+ approach into the SROI framework to quantify standardized impacts of blockchain projects. In addition, this will also be the first research on integrating IMP’s impact management tool into the SROI and IRIS+ framework for blockchain technology, contributing to the scant literature on the subject of impact measurement and management in blockchain domain.
