Project Details
Description
The family is an important field for the preservation of the mother tongue, and various language vitality evaluation indicators take the use of the mother tongue of the generations within the family as the evaluation focus of saving the language loss. However, many studies and survey reports have pointed out that the family register of Hakka has been invaded by other languages, and there is a crisis of generational inheritance. Therefore, this project will use questionnaires and in-depth interviews with Hakka families in Miaoli, an important Hakka town in western Taiwan, to investigate the phenomenon of language use in different types of families and evaluate the impact of current family mother tongue policies. Linking to three other sub-projects surveyed in the community, schools and workplaces, develop strategies for the reconstruction of the Hakka language environment at home in response to the realities of different regions.
