臺灣粽的社會生命:節慶食品的文化經濟學

Project Details

Description

Since the 1960s, the overall structure of the pattern of production, distribution and consumption of Taiwan Zong(Rice Dumplings)—a typical example of festival foods—has experienced dramatic changes in Taiwan. Traditionally, Zong were handmade and shared by families as part of the Dragon Boat Festival. The widespread transformation of Zong in modern Taiwan can be found in a number of aspects: production sites, cooking equipments, ingredients, time usage, consumption styles and symbolic associations. As a typical festival food in Taiwan, Zong has undergone commodification and diversification in the past decades and have currently become multi-functional food products. This research will use “social life of things” as a conceptual tool and “cultural economy” as a major approach to investigate the powerful relationships and processes that underpin the production, distribution and consumption of a major festive food in Taiwan.
