臺灣北部沿海至東海南部的海洋次中尺度動力過程觀測與機制探討

Project Details

Description

There are various ocean submesoscale dynamic phenomena from the northerncoast of Taiwan to the southern East China Sea. These phenomena will lead tothe change of ocean flow field, mixing of water masses, and vertical movement ofseawater, which will affect marine ecosystems and human activities. This is athree-year continuous research plan integrating marine physics andbiogeochemistry. It aims to analyze the observation and dynamic mechanism ofocean submesoscale processes in combination with multi-satellite observation, field measurement and numerical model. The scientific topics include islandtrapped motion, density plume, drifter observation and oceanic front, island wakeand vortex train, characteristics of water mass, ocean color parameters and thecalculation of primary productivity. The main scientific issues we want to solveare (1) the movement process, feature classification, control factors andformation mechanism of the nearshore density plume and river plume, (2)contribution of tidal currents and monsoon forcing to island-trapped motion andcoastal-trapped waves, (3) the influence of density plume on marinebiogeochemical parameters and upper water mass characteristics, (4) the use ofdrifter to observe the phenomenon of ocean current movement, oceanic front, and island wake, (5) retrieval of ocean color parameters in multi-band of satellitedata, etc., so as to achieve the policy goal of the combination of ocean physicsand biogeochemistry in the United Nations Decade for the sustainable oceandevelopment.
