英文摘要This proposal intends to study the spectroscopy of luminescent materials containing rare earth elements and atmospheric chemistry species. We have established spectroscopy techniques for different subjects during the past years. Our proposed study will focus not only on the spectroscopy of luminescent materials, but also on the energy transfer processes including mechanisms, rates, and efficiency. Fruitful preliminary results have been acquired and the research will show us how to control the efficiency and wavelengths of photoluminescence. We wish to investigate this subject thoroughly in next two years and the results will pave the foundation for developing better related technology such as display, biosensor, and solar cell. With respect to the atmospheric chemistry species, we are currently studying the photolysis of iodomethanes at ultraviolet wavelengths.
