Description

Traditional mourning system which closely related to family structure is veryimportant in Chinese society. Scholars Zhang Binglin(章炳麟, 1869-1936) andWu Chengshi(吳承仕, 1884-1939) in the early period of the Republic ofChina(1912-1949) both paid attention to this topic and published important works.They not only deliberately constructed a knowledge system, but also hoped torebuild the order of human relations by studying this issue. This project will takethe works of Zhang and Wu as the research object to explore their views on thisissue. On the other hand, we also hope to further explore the relationshipbetween Confucian canon and real life. This project will also organize Wu’s worksso that more scholars can know his academic achievements.
