Project Details
Description
The cooperative company of this project is a machinery equipment manufacturing plant. Its business has expanded from steel structure workshops and industrial piping projects to pressure vessel manufacturing, clean room design and construction, and aerospace-related manufacturing. Its business model evolves from OEM only at the earlier time to ODM also included at the present time. And, its customers come from all over the world. The cooperative company relies on its professional technology and manufacturing capabilities to establish its competitive advantage in the competitive market. It is well aware that the production management problems of its processing site seriously affect its production efficiency, cause waste of capacity and weaken its competitiveness. Therefore, the cooperative company hopes that this project can help them solve these problems. After discussing with the cooperative company, this project decided to focus on the processing location layout and schedule control problems first and develop effective and feasible methods for them. To achieve this goal, the research steps of this study are briefly described as follows: (1) Collect information related to the research problems from the cooperative company and discuss with relevant personnel to understand the actual situations and needs on the shop floor; (2) Literature review; (3) Propose methods for each problem; (4) Use computer simulations to test the performance of the proposed methods; (5) Review the simulation results to find what can be improved on the proposed methods; (6) Repeat steps 4 to 5 until satisfactory methods have been found. During the development of the proposed methods, this research will focus not only on the effectiveness of the methods, but also on the feasibility of the proposed methods in the actual environment through the discussion with the cooperative company. Finally, this project hopes that the research results will not only help the cooperative company, but also contribute to the global competitiveness of Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry.
